| PTNNT commences the 2010 OHS Campaign Month

Sumbawa Barat - PTNNT commenced the 2010 Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Campaign Month by conducting an opening ceremony held at Batu Hijau mine site on Tuesday (12/1) participated by employees, contractors, and government representatives.
"The commemoration of the OHS day is a perfect moment for Indonesia to strive, participate actively and work harder and smarter to prevent and minimize occupational-related accidents," said Min. of Manpower and Transmigration Drs. H. A Muhaimin Iskandar, M.Si in his remarks read by Gen. Supv. Environmental Affairs PTNNT, Radjali Amin.
Meantime, PTNNT General Manager Operations, Darren Hall said our sustained focus on safety has resulted in Batu Hijau being one of the safest mines in Indonesia.
Darren said PTNNT's safety performance should continue be improved. "The Occupational Health and Safety Month provided us all with another opportunity to demonstrate our personal commitment to making Batu Hijau a safer place to work," said Darren.
"Together we can make a Batu Hijau a safer place to work, but it will require an even greater personal commitment from all of us as we continue on our journey of achieving our Vision of becoming the most valued and respected mining company through industry leading performance," he said.
PTNNT facilitates a number of health and safety events, including OHS K3 competitions for employees, contractors and dependents [who live in Batu Hijau town site], socialization on fire prevention and handling for communities surrounding the mine, fun jogging, bazaar and entertainment. ***
